United States beaches are all unique in their own way. St. Petersburg in Florida holds the Guinness Book World Record for the most consecutive days of Sunshine at 768 days. Hunington Beach is the most visited beach in California. Waikiki Beach is the most visited destination in all of Hawaii. Ocean City, Maryland is known asa the Marlin capital of the US. Whether it is Long Beach, Washington in the Pacific Northwest or Miami Beach on the southernmost tip of Florida, there is something for everyone, somewhere in between.
Name your season, there is always somewhere to play all year long in the mountains. Ski resorts get all the attention in the winter. The campsites are all full in the summer. The spring and the fall attract all the hikers. Any one of these seasons attract all walks of life. Individual travelers, couples and families can enjoy breathtaking views and amazing food in Four Seasons Resort and Residence in Wyoming, Breckenridge Ski Resort in Colorado, The Inn on Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, Topnotch Resort in Vermont, or Montage Big Sky in Montana,
From the west coast to the east coast, there are attractions for the kid in everyone. There is fun for everyone. The whales are at SeaWorld, the roller coasters are at Cedar Fair, cartoon characters at Disney, movie sets are at Universal Studios and Dolly Parton is at Dollywood but none of those vacations begin or end at the theme park. The fun begins by getting into the car or stepping onto the airplane and continues to the perfect hotel and ends with the most fitting meals. A great plan can make dreams come true.
There are the world renowned realms such as Yellowstone, Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, but there are so many extraordinary ‘lost kingdoms’ too. For example, few international tourists enter the heavenly and glacial gates of Alaska’s Kenai Fjords National Park. Or the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado which boasts the biggest sand dunes in North America, despite being as far from the sea as you could possibly get. Most importantly, all the parks have two important heirs: the wildlife inside and the people outside. In that order really.
Sports tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in tourism. More and more tourists are interested in sport activities during their trips whether sports are the main objective of travel or not. Sport events of various kinds and sizes attract tourists as participants or spectators and destinations try to add local flavours to them to distinguish themselves and provide authentic local experiences. Mega sport events such as Olympics and World Cups can be a catalyst for tourism development if successfully leveraged in terms of destination branding. Don't forget the domestic venues, as well. The Yankees, Cowboys, Blackhawks all need our love, too!
The wonderful aspect of urban tourism is there is never a shortage things to do. Broadway shows, comedy clubs, Brazilian steakhouses, city tours, casinos, historical landmarks, coffee shops, farmer's markets, pizza, movies, authentic cuisine, and so much more. No car, no problem! Take the cab. take the bus, jump on a train. There is always a way. Pick a city, any city. New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Atlantic City, Miami, the list goes on but there is always an open sign when the city never closes.
