Yes, of course I book travel. That is the easy part. Yes, you could do it yourself. What happens when there is a change of plans? Do you know if there are any penalties for the change you need to make? What if special accommodations are needed in the airport or hotel? What if you need transportation from the airport to the hotel or from the hotel to that concert in the stadium you are attending? Do you know how to make those arrangements? Do you know that booking with a travel agent marks your reservation as being overseen by an agency and often allows for certain exceptions? Travel vendors want to keep good relations with travel agents, in order to continue to get future business from their agency. Here are ways I help you: 

1. I take the time out of searching for travel options. Finding the perfect itinerary is time consuming. Especially, when you aren’t familiar with an area. A hotel may need to be near a certain event, amusement park, beach, but the price point still needs to be right. I remove the work in finding the perfect vacation.
2. I take the stress out of booking a trip alone. I know that the hotel you found for dirt cheap has a horrible reputation. I know that there is a direct flight that can replace the cheap fare you found with three layovers. I know booking travel insurance will give you reassurance your money is not lost if you get sick, that hurricane rolls in, or you get a great job opportunity and plans change. Peace of mind is priceless!
3. I have a direct link with travel vendors. Resorts, cruise lines, transportation services, excursion companies want me to think of them when a client is looking for something specific. In doing so, they make me aware of special promotions, new properties and services, and any changes going on in the travel industry. This may be information not readily available to you. I can also steer you toward or away from certain locations or vendors based on firsthand information.
4. When I make reservations, my name and experience is attached to your reservation. This allows me to make changes on your behalf. Changes that you may not even know you can make. They make exceptions in order to keep that great agency-vendor relationship in the future.
5. I do what they do because of my love for travel. We are invited to check out new ships, new properties, new resorts. Vendors such as Carnival, Sandals, Secrets, ask me to come see what they offer. They keep me updated daily, all with the intent that I will pass it along to you.
6. I have information about how to get through different airports. I know the best beaches. I know how far the airport is from the hotel. I know that the cheap flight you found only has a 25 minute layover and you will likely end up sitting in the airport waiting on another flight, rather than sitting on a beach sipping a daiquiri.  I know which trains get you from Paris to Milan and what transfers are needed to get you there safely. It is not only my job to know, but my passion.
7. I am a low level financial advisor! :) A common misconception is that travel is too expensive for everyone to enjoy. If you knew you could book your dream vacation a year from now, then use that whole year to pay for it, a lot more people would see the world. If you have a budget, I can try to find options in that range. If not I will find a comparable alternative that is. I also have links to interest free finance companies that will help you find a way to book the trip of your dreams.
8. Do I charge a fee for my service? I do not charge a fee because I am paid by the airlines, hotels, and tour companies I book with. This is how travel agents, third party sites such as Priceline or Expedia are paid. Generally, this amount is between 5%-20% and I am paid about 4-6 weeks after you travel. Wouldn’t you rather someone like myself, who cares about your vacation, to be booking for you? 
9. Not only is your vacation on the line when I book for you, so is my reputation. Just as much as I want to have the best vacation of your life, I also want you to think of me when you have a future trip. I want you to tell your friends and family how much help I was. That is how I grow, not just as a business but with you.
